Macro Challenge

So as I was doing what most Americans do these days (browsing Facebook aimlessly) I came across a post a FB friend had shared about a blogging contest. Now, I KEEP telling myself... BLOG MORE BLOG MORE BLOG MORE, but do I listen? Noh! However, THIS macro challenge has inspired me to share with you one of my FAVORITE macro shots that I would like to enter into the Macro Challenge hosted by:

studio waterstone

Let me tell you the story of my picture:

I came home one day and noticed the rhododendron bush under the living room window was fully in bloom. I took a mental note and continued on. I was super excited to start working on some glass tile pendants; a technique I had recently taught myself. Once my park path pic turned out so well on a tile, I went outside seeking more shots. I found 2. The first was a little SUPER TEENY flower under the big oak tree, the SECOND... the Rhodo bush. How full and brilliant she was. So I snapped away and headed back inside to download crop and print my pics. I also do some Photoshop so I played with the photo effects and created the 1st pic into a water color before printing (which of course came out different than on screen as they all do) and then the 2nd, the Rhodo, I just printed as is. What a gorgeous design. Although in the pic the petals are more of a purple and in the pendant they're pink, I took it for what it was because in the end I had a beautiful picture and a beautiful pendant. And here's my pic:

I hope you all enjoy this shot. I think it's truly remarkable. The pendant...eh, she turned out okay, but the picture.. it's priceless. Can't wait for them to bloom again this year. I want to be sure to get pics of the red one next time!!! :)

Thanks for looking. Make your day a Macro day!! You'll never know what beauty you may find in the smallest and simplest of detail!! :)

Like That? Wear This!

So I make jewelry and when I make a piece I sometimes INSTANTLY envision something to wear with it. That made me think. What if someone REALLY likes a piece but isn't sure what to wear it with?! Well, there's not an APP for that, but I can certainly do my best to help someone out. :-D

I shop around online for outfit ideas then go look for it in a local store. I can't buy online, I'm the kind of girl that needs to try things on. But because of that I knew of a store that has a closet feature where u can piece outfits together. Thank you www.wetseal.com for helping me figure things out.

So here's some of the latest items I did featured in my last blog, and here are some design ideas of outfits to match. You may even have something similar already in you closet and just need some jewelry. *wink*wink* :-D

Ok so let's say you like this turquoise piece with antiqued brass and pink tourmaline accents but you're not sure what you'd wear it with:

I picked something like this pretty southern-type set. The brown sets off the green and turquoise shades in the drop and on the chain.

Next up, a darling bracelet with some pizazz. Love it? But not sure what you'd wear it for?
try this
A sweet summer set. Soft pinks in nude and rose shades make the colors pop on this piece. And I think the ruffles coincide with the dangles of the bracelet. I'd wear it, and I don't really like pink. :0)

Need a little punk in your life. Like to rock and roll? Then you need a stylish wrap. They're the latest rage.

Put a little spunk in your life. Wear a wrap with a rocking outfit to give the appearance of multiple bracelets.

Want to make a statement but in a subtle way. Then check out this copper flower piece.

A soft subtle outfit but a necklace that makes a statement. Again, the ruffles compliment the dangles. Wear something like this to dress up any casual outfit.

All these outfits and/or similar items were found at www.wetseal.com They specialize in juniors clothing so the misses and women will have to shop elsewhere. Try www.JCPenney.com or www.Kohls.com for similar styles.

As for the jewelry you can find that and more at www.facebook.com/LpJewelry or stop by my shop and see what's currently for sale at www.etsy.com/shop/LpSJewelry.

(I encourage other people to look for outfits and find what suits you best. Make a statement. Be an individual. But I DON'T encourage people to rip off this idea. Which is exactly what happened to me. I started an album on facebook to prep for this blog and next thing I know a certain company said "check out my wallpaper" and their blog was all about matching an outfit to a customer's piece. I learned the hard way, don't share your ideas until they're fully ready to be shared. Internet can be a downfall sometimes.)

I'm Setting up Shop

So I've been crazy busy with school but somehow in the midst of studying for nursing I've managed to still design and grow Internet wise so I'm going to share the latest info with you!! Here's a taste of some latest designs:
LinkThis bracelet is made with beautiful antique copper findings, some gorgeously designed Czech glass beads, yummy potato pearls and swarovski crystals. Would be the perfect accent to a khaki suit with a light purple ruffled blouse. Just sayin!! :-)

See more of this bracelet here

Then I found this BEAUTIFUL piece of pyrite in a local shop and went all out into a Metallic Madness Frenzy!!! LOOOVEE IIITTT!!!
You can see more of this piece here

I even found the time to get into some more ethnic pieces like this turquoise necklace that my beautiful niece is now sporting and this pyrite piece with opal jasper that seems almost Egyptian like.

Now, after alllll that, I'm sure there was something ELSE I was supposed to do?!?!? Oh... study, I guess. :-P Don't worry nursing instructors, I got my priorities straight!!! Hahah still have to make time for fun though! Best line from a movie, or at least ONE of the best.."Don't take life to seriously, you'll never get out alive." Those are words to live by!!

Find these items and more on my facebook page
and see whats up for sale in my etsy shopLink
